A FRESH COMEBACK!


It's been so long since the last Devlog of Kolor-Blockz!

That's because, the whole project suffered development hell, with tons of changes in... well... EVERYTHING!

The gameplay, the visuals, the plot, character development and mechanisms... all have been changed!


A Brief Synopsis

In contrast with the Prototype Demo, the project now features a modern U.I. and improved graphics including a surreal mix of pixel art and hand-drawn animation. The Difficulty Selection System has been removed, because the game now follows the classic recipe of "the more process you make, the harder it goes" . 


New Controls!

The Arrow Keys have been replaced with WASD keys to move your block. The mouse is still required to select stages and interact with items you'd like to purchase in the game's shops or interact with Reality 02's characters. More keys will be required on your Gameplay depending on the "Buffs" you 've managed to collect and equip on your adventure. 

Endings... without Moral Choices?

It is true that Undertale was an inspiration for me when I was still dreaming of becoming a game developer... That's why after all, the prototype has several similarities with it in the first place. One of the greatest similarities is that it follows the Undertale-Recipe of endings based on moral choices. Well... so IT WAS. After thinking more carefully of the game's storyline, moral choices have been removed from the project. Still though... several choices affect the game's events and the story, but all lead to one ending, which means that your choices and actions affect the game POST-ENDING!

New Characters and Renewed Designs!

One of the best upgrades in the project was the character development. Most of the existing characters, including the player, Spoopy/EX-0, TV Champion, and the enemies have been polished and redesigned! The horror elements of Spoopy's true identity (when the player chooses to pass his offering) have been removed, although, he remains a threat for Reality 02, waiting for revenge! 

Kolor-Blockz!'s first world - originally, named TeeVeeCeeTee Town and now TeeVeeCeeTee Studios - had no interesting plot, so I focused on Round 1's most glamourous villain - TV Champion. He has been renamed from Bob to Vince, and given a brand new redesign, and an intro song about his origins and the game's impact on the player. Vince is Reality 02's Greatest TV Star, owner of the Finest Club which is always ON-AIR, and the powerful local tyrant of TeeVeeCeeTee Studios.


Also, there have been added more secondary protagonists and features, like a 19-years-old Hotel Receptionist where you can save your progress, a Gameboy Lookalike Shop Keeper where you can spend your Blue Crystals for items and buffs, and an old Mines Owner, who might let you explore the Magical Coves and collect Blockberries to trade for Crystals, and MUCH MORE!

Release Date..?

While it was scheduled for a Steam Release on December 2022, I'm afraid that has to be CANCELED, because that would require me to rush the game's completion, and I do not want to release a project that does not feel like what I had in concept. It might take some months more, but I do believe that it's worth it for the project!

So, when to expect a release of the prologue..? Probably, in mid to late 2023 and the game will require about 2-4 hours of total gameplay to fully complete it per ending.

That's true, but once the game's close to the Prologue's Release, it will change... don't worry!
